- National Medal of Arts presented to Lionel Hampton. 4 inch gold medal designed by sculptor Robert Graham. The medal has a loop on top, from which it is attached by a purple ribbon to an 8 x 7 1/2 x 2 inch display. On the obverse it reads: National Medal of Arts, and on the reverse: United States of America; Lionel Hampton. Accompanying the medal is a 3/4 inch version of it, on a blue ribbon attached by a pin to a 34 inch long purple ribbon neck tie. The medal is inside a wood box. Also a 4 x 6 inch glass engraved display
