Collection Contents
The Doc Cheatham Papers include a variety of items with significant chronological gaps. The oldest item is a photograph from 1892 of a group of people including Cheatham's mother, Alice, posing on the stairs of a brick building identified as the Allen Temple, Atlanta, Georgia. The most recent items refer to his 90th Birthday celebration in 1995.
Biography
Adolphus Anthony Cheatham, known as Doc Cheatham, was a trumpet player. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee on June 13, 1905 and died on June 2, 1997.
